Where sonic legend meets modern connectivity

Where sonic legend meets modern connectivity. With its single-enclosure speaker system and wireless audio streaming, the JBL Authentic L16 was born to resonate with legacy. Inspired by the legendary JBL Century L100 loudspeaker, the JBL Authentic L16 blends classic acoustic speaker design and advanced wireless technology. It offers a real walnut-veneered wood enclosure, exceptional audio quality and easy wireless connectivity to a wide range of devices via AirPlay, DNLA and Bluetooth®. Not only that, but with the L16’s additional analog, optical, and phono preamp jack connections, you’ve got yourself an all-in-one masterpiece of compatibility. And it’s as convenient as it’s powerful: Near Field Communication (NFC) technology lets you pair a Bluetooth® device simply by tapping it on the speaker. Meanwhile, a free JBL MusicFlow app lets you easily set up and control the speaker with your iOS or Android mobile device. Using the speaker’s built-in USB ports, you can charge compatible mobile devices. Sporting 300 watts r.m.s. of power, custom JBL low-frequency and high-frequency transducers, advanced DSP technology and a frequency response of 40Hz – 35kHz, the JBL Authentic L16 produces full-range sound and a wide stereo image from a single, mid-sized stereo speaker. Harman Clari-Fi™ technology replaces all the audio details lost in the shuffle of today’s compressed music files, adding detail and energy to any low quality music stream. With its unstoppable acoustics and its all-terrain compatibility, the JBL Authentic L16 is where the future becomes an instant classic.

JBL Authentics L16 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from About time for this level of technology! Purchased a month ago, this speaker system is by far the best that I've heard from wireless speakers! I owned a pair of JBL L100's, and purchased the L16 thru JBL due to their reference to the L100 legacy. Though not exactly an equivalent, it's sound is quite impressive. I couldn't be happier considering this is a wireless product. It's minimal footprint, lack of wires and ease of setup along with superior sound are what I've hoped for, for a very long time. If any improvements could be made, I'd hope for more variety in Wi-Fi connectivity options, a greater range of sound equalizing options, as well as other improvements within the JBL Sound App. In the future, I hope JBL will be creating separate left and right channel wireless speakers comparable to the L100's with the same minimal footprint (one can only dream!). Overall though, I am very pleased with this investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound and connectivity! I've owned the JBL L16 for close to a year and a half and I could not be any happier. At the time of purchasing I ended up deciding between the L8 and the L16 (after discarding the competitors), and I'm glad I ended up picking the L16. This thing sounds great! Not only it sounds great, it is powerful enough to fill a large space while keeping the audio quality intact. And it looks fantastic in the living room, it is a beautiful and well designed piece. Not to mention the connectivity via Airplay (which is what I use the most) and Bluetooth. I'm no expert audiophile but I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds too good to be true, but it is! I have had this for a few months now and absolutely love it. Great full, deep, rich sound which never falters or fails to fill up my room. Beautiful retro 70s design, simple, elegant and stylish. Features are great and beyond what I could ask for (although I agree that it is a shame that the phono pre amp is lower quality than would be expected), however I find that not having a dedicated remote for the unit is not on par with the level of this product and a major oversight. There are numerous times that it is inconvenience to have the remote be accessed only through my iPhone. I heard a rumor that there might be a follow up release of a remote coming soon, I hope this is true, I would pay extra to have that. All in all, very happy with the purchase and would do it again if I was making the same decision for a home system.

Hi. I own the L16 and have trouble with the wifi disconnecting when I change songs streaming from iPad and Mac. It is also often hard to connect the player device with speaker.Do you have a firmware upgrade to fix this or other solutions for this problem?

Asked by: anders
I bought the L16 a week ago and unfortunately I have the same problems, Anders is talking about. In almost every manual change of the songs via Airplay the connection breaks off and the speaker must be re-connected. I hope that there will be a solution to this problem soon.

The L16 or L8 is it compatible with FLAC dlna streaming ? I will use it with a Logitech media server.

Asked by: fanfanlefou
Unfortunately, the JBL Authentics L16 is only capable of playing MP3, WMA, AAC, or PCM audio files via DLNA. DLNA does not support FLAC and as stated on page 11 of your owners manual.

hi im having a trouble connecting DLNA. actually i just followed WIFI SETUP. and its connected successfully. but when i connect my phone to the same wifi as L16 and play music, only my phone plays music by itself. L16 doesnt play the music.

Asked by: BBQMan
The JBL Authentics L16 is a DLNA Digital Media Renderer (DMR) device. Your media player software must be capable of acting as a DLNA Digital Media Server (DMS) and Digital Media Controller (DMC) to initiate the audio stream. Third party DLNA software can be found online, or on Google Play for Android devices. With that said, if your device has updated drivers/firmware then you should have no problem with connecting via DLNA and audio should stream from your device to the L16. You should also remember to set the L16 as the media speaker for your device.

Can I use the Phono jack connect to my CD player?

Asked by: Jackie2025
Yes, If you are using a CD player, it’s likely a line level (RCA) jack. You would needs a 3.5mm to RCA Y adapter for it to work.

I am having trouble getting both Airplay and Bluetooth to pair with the JBL L16. It paired once and then dropped and hasn't paired again since. Any ideas on what can be done to get the speaker to connect either via Bluetooth or Airplay?

Asked by: bradS
Sorry to hear of the issue you are having. Your best bet is to reset the Bluetooth and the entire unit so that you can start from scratch. To disconnect an external Bluetooth device that has been paired with the L16, press the Input Selector Button while the Bluetooth input symbol is ON, and hold it for about 3 seconds. The Bluetooth input symbol will begin flashing, and the pairing sound is heard. Next, to erase the internal list of preferred Bluetooth paired devices, press and hold the Power ON/OFF Button for at least 10 seconds, until the volume light and input selector lights begin to flash. This resets the entire unit, including its memory. Now connect your Bluetooth device and Airplay again and it should work.
