Hi. Recently got GTR104 and connected a JBL 3 way power series speakers with a gauge 8 power cable. The HU is a Sony 712BT. Question is Why is the amp auto shutting off when HU is in low volume like 12 below? Need to power it on on the remote again.

Asked by: Poringdrops
Turn the input on the amp down, considerably, and turn up the volume of the head unit, to compensate, and the unit will stay on, and sound better as the signal to noise ratio will be much better.

I'm panning to connect the jbl BASSpro sl to the pre-out of the amp. If the amp is connected to the speaker-level line of the head-unit would the pre-out give a speaker-level or a line level signal?

Asked by: lexmarkpol
The speaker level input on our amps are designed for head units that do not have RCA line-out. For you to be able to use a powered subwoofer when connected via speaker level input. Switch the GTR-104's input control to HI1 and adjust the crossover to HPF.

What speakers (two 6x9 and two 6.5in) would you recommend to be used with this amp?

Asked by: rando1
I highly recommend the GTO series speakers. I have them installed in my car and they sound way above their output grade compared to other speakers I have installed in the past. My speakers are the same size as yours.

Hi Is it possible to use bluetooth alone to play music out to the speakers, without connecting to the car main unit ? Can a SUB amplifier be connected directly from this if you only play music via bluetooth?

Asked by: Ricardo26
Yes, you can work with this amplifier thru BT even without a direct connection to the car main unit. The amplifier is also has a PRE OUT connection for a secondary amplifier.

Hi I'm looking to install this bluetooth amp with 2 front speaker and 2 rear speakers into my classic car and was wondering what speakers you would recommend for the best sound? Also, what size is the dash mounted control unit?

Asked by: SimonC
Hi Simon, We can't recommend speakers, this is something you will have to find out with the information from the manual of the amplifier: GTR-104 100W x 4, ≤0.1% THD+N @4ohm 120W x 4, ≤0.1% THD+N @2ohm Above shows the output power for the amplifier, and you should choose your speakers so they will match this power ( especially the resistance of the speakers ) The size of the dash mounted controls, this is 110mm x 48mm on the front. If you need to cut out room to fit it somewhere, the cutout needs to be 93mm x 34mm If you require further information, please contact us on customer.support@harman.com

How does this work with an existing aftermarket head unit since it requires it's own control? Does the control unit it includes have FM capabilities?

Asked by: Bmann
This will work well with existing aftermarket head-units since this will not take over the function of a head unit and will only act as a controller for the amplifier. The GTR-104's controller does not have tuner capabilities and only can accept sources via Bluetooth.
