A high-performance loudspeaker at a cost that isn’t earsplitting.

There are things in life that remain both powerful and affordable. Case in point: the new JBL Arena 130 bookshelf loudspeakers. Who but JBL engineers could devise a loudspeaker where high-performance sound, high-definition imaging, and high-modernist elegance go hand-in-hand at a low price? The Arena 130’s 7” (178mm) polycellulose woofer and 1” (25mm) soft dome tweeter combine to deliver standard-setting performance that’s both ultra-powerful and ultra-lifelike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serious quality sound I bought a pair of these speakers a few months ago, to upgrade my rear speakers in my surround sound set-up. The quality and finish is to a high standard, and they look great in white. The sound from these speakers is powerful and direct and has greatly improved the surround sound experience. I highly recommend these speakers, especially at this price point.

I've bought 2 pairs of 130 and a 125C. My plan is to place them below the screen. Because I don't have a lot of space there, I was thinking on place the 130s on their sides, aligned to the 125c. Does it make difference on the sound quality?

Asked by: DannyP
Yes there will be a difference, speakers ought to be positioned based on their intended usage and construction. But if this is only option, please do what is necessary for the time being. Also, keep in mind that speaker do sound better what they are aligned closed and directed towards the listening positon.

From what I can understand, these speakers can handle frequencies from 55Hz and up. I have a Yamaha RX-V581 amp and I have a subwoofer. Am I correct in deducting that setting the crossover in my amp to ~60Hz would be the right idea?

Asked by: Grimur
Yes.

Hello! I write you in Spanish with a translation. I bought 4 Arena 130 speakers and a Yamaha RX 860 receiver. I'm building a living room/cinema, the idea is to achieve a quality sound for both purposes, do you recommend installing an additional subwoofer?

Asked by: Eduardo Inostroza Wachten
While there is no one perfect set-up for it all boils down to your preference, a standard surround sound home theater system involves a 5.1 system. This is five speakers and a subwoofer. If you want to get those very low frequencies and a more realistic sound staging, yes, we do recommend that you get a subwoofer.

Hi, my amp has an output of 100 x 2 rms at 8ohm, they manage to maintain such power? thanks.

Asked by: frankit
The ARENA 130 can handle up to 125 watts. This means that any receiver with a power output of 125 watts per channel or less will work fine with this speaker.

Hi. I need to replace my old jbl lx 50 of 1998, these are fine, or which model do you recommend? Thank you.

Asked by: frankit
Ah, the LX50's, those were beautiful speakers. If you are looking for a speaker of similar quality, I would recommend the STUDIO 2 or 5 series. My personal preference would be the STUDIO 5.

I know the recommended amplifier wattage is 20 - 125 watts, but what is the peak amount of wattage these speakers can handle?

Asked by: LittleRoy
As stated above, the arena has a recommended amp wattage of 20-125W. With that said, the speakers peak wattage would be at 125W.
