Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally got it to work, Awesome system could not get it work with cables that it came with, had to change the settings on my tv, in sound setting switched from bitrate to PCM, and DTS 2.5 to PCM aswell, on my samsung K-Series tv, once I did that the HDMI VRC cable worked, then also make sure if your using a OPTICAL CABLE be sure to remove the nipple covers that come on brand new cables. The optical cable thing was very frustrating but read some forums and figured out the problem. The remote control sucks by the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sound, Easy Setup, Great Buy I was in the market to remove my 5.1 wired home theater system and looked all of the over hyped guys. They all sounded great but were amazingly expensive. On a pure stroke of luck I remember that I had just bought the Flip 4 and was in love with it. I checked the JBL site and saw that they sold home theater products. After some more research I chose the SB 450. The other reviewers do a great job of telling you what it is: Amazing sound, super easy connectivity and setup, and overall a solid product. This sub is amazing! Use the Harmon Sound button on the remote to maximize the experience for each medium you play. Everything works outstanding and for me personally it is worth replacing a wired "home theater" sound with two pieces of wireless hardware. You will not be disappointed.

What are the similarities and differences between this model and the SB 400. They are the same price--is there any reason not to get this one if I do not have a 4K TV?

Asked by: steveZ
I just purchased the SB450. The differences I have found are that the SB450 is NOT wi-fi enabled, so the sub is connected to the Soundbar through a proprietary protocol (or maybe bluetooth?). One of the biggest issues on the SB400 was syncing the Soundbar and Sub via wifi. No such issues here. I also believe the SB450, based on spec sheets, has nearly double the peak power. I can say that it was one of the easiest set ups. I ran ARC from my TV to the Sound bard, plugged in the sub, hit the sync button, and I was up and running in 5 minutes. It just works and sounds GREAT.

Do I have to switch from HDMI source to optical every time I play usb connected devices on tv

Asked by: Hojas
If your TV has HDMI ARC then you might not have to switch connections when playing via USB. However some TV applications and/or connections, in this case USB, may not be compatible with HDMI. If this is true for your TV model, then optical switching is necessary.

Is my ARC port broken? When i plug my Fire Tv and Cable box into my Samsung One Connect and use the ARC to the soundbars ARC, i get no sound. Those same devices into the soundbar, sound works.

Asked by: JRC27
This can be caused by the formatting that your source device is using and the TV can accept and output. If your source device (Bluray, gaming console, DVD..) is set to output Dolby Digital/DTS, and your TV can only output two-channel digital signal (PCM) when connected via HDMI-ARC, this requires the TV to process the signal before it sends it to the SB450. Try to use an optical cable from the TV to the SB450, if you are using HDMI or to set your source device to send PCM signals only to the TV. This should fix your issue.

Hi, i just got the new SB450 . how i can now that the "Harman Volume" is on or off? how i can now if thier is any firmware update update ? do you have any app that work with SB450 ?

Asked by: schnitz
You can turn Audio Feedback ON with the remote control to hear an audible indication for Harman Volume ON/OFF settings. As of the moment there is no firmware update for the SB450. You can check our website www.jbl.com from time to time to check if we are going to release a firmware update for SB450. The JBL CONNECT app will not work with this speaker, nor will it support stereo music playback when linking two SB 450s together. The JBL CONNECT feature of the SB450 will only let you wirelessly daisy chain two speakers.

Which one is the better option Thru HDMI cable or the OPTIC cable to connect to TV

Asked by: Satyender
Both HDMI and optical pass digital audio from one device to another. Both are better than analog (the red and white cables). Both can pass multi-channel audio. The biggest difference is that HDMI can pass higher-resolution audio In terms of simplicity, HDMI also passes video signals. So if you want just a single cable between two devices, HDMI would be better.

Are JBL Sound Fly speakers compatible with JBL connect technology on the JBL Cinema SB450

Asked by: Todonn
No. It is not compatible. SOUNDFLY is a plug and play speaker and has no JBL Connect feature. So connecting it with SB450 through JBL Connect is impossible.
