Product Q&A
Can this speaker connect to my phone? Im looking for an in-wall speaker for my bathroom for music, so I don't need it to connect to a whole system into a theater or anything. just my phone
No, our JBL B-6IW needs an amplifier to work.

I plan on putting the speakers in an exterior wall that will have closed cell spray-in foam insulation....this 3.3” mounting depth is from the plane of wall, correct? And the grill sits just slightly proud of the wall plane?
That is correct.

Is there a built in amplifier or do i have to get one seperatly if so what wattage if i want to run 8 of these speakers? What type of speaker wire will i need for this speaker?
Hey Zayn, great questions you got for us. Our JBL B-6IW in-wall speakers require an external receiver/amplifier to power them as they do not have built-in amplification. As for your other questions, we may need to get more details from you about the kind of setup you want before we can answer them. So we can help you, we suggest that you reach out to our Customer Support team. You can reach us through here: https://support.jbl.com/us/en/customer-service/contact.html

Can I use this with AVR 1710S receiver? The speaker spec is 4 ohm and I believe the receiver is 8 ohm. Also is this recommended speaker to be used as center speaker for surround sound setup?
Let's try to answer this question for you. A loudspeaker's impedance always dictates how much power a receiver will put out. The lower the impedance a receiver detects from the speaker, the higher audio power it will send to the speaker.
In this case, our Harman Kardon AVR 1710S can put out 100 watts of continuous power at 6 or 8 ohms and our JBL B-6IW speaker is capable of handling only 35 watts of continuous power at 4 ohms. We don't recommend these two products together because the AVR will end up sending too much power that the speaker can't handle. If you'd like to find out what speakers we do recommend for you to use, in line with what kind of set up you want to achieve, send us a case request through this link and we'll be happy to help you out further: https://www.harmanaudio.com/support-knowledgebase.html
