We keep going back
This is our second one of these speakers - we bought the previous version three years ago and my daughter has used it every day since. Great sound and performance, even after constant use.
The decision to buy this newer model was simply as she is heading off to university and it was a going-away gift from her grandmother. Now she'll have a JBL Clip speaker wherever she goes!

Nice little speaker, but thought I could pair it..
I bought this Clip to accompany a Boombox. I thought I could pair the 2 so they would both play the same music. It was a gift for someone to use while working. I thought he could set the Boombox up, then attach the clip so if he got too far away he would still have his music (if that makes sense). Nice speaker, I just didn’t do my research well enough.

Excellent quality at a reasonable price!!
I was looking for a quality speaker at a reasonable price to use for my work. My job is in the construction field, so you know I needed something durable. I happened across the JBL Clip 3 while shopping at a local department store and found the clip to be handy.
After around 6 months of heavy use and abuse, the unit stopped charging. I had a chat with an online agent through the JBL website and followed instructions to send the speaker in and have it assessed to be replaced, as it was still under the company limited warranty. They sent me a brand new unit with little delay.
Two weeks ago, we had a terrible snowstorm where I live and my speaker fell off what I had it clipped to (not due to mechanical failure) and became lost in a ten inch pile of snow. I didn’t realize this until too late and figured that even if I found the speaker, there’s no way it would still work. Just today, I had a look around where the snow had been piled, hope against hope, and, sure enough, there it lay in a pile of mud. Still charged and playing flawlessly.
I would recommend this product to any music lover who is hard on equipment and wants some serious sound!!

WAS good
I bought this item for its rugged clip design and easy attachment, along with JBL's great track record with performance. However, about about a month of using it the speaker repeatedly pauses songs every couple of minutes or so, regardless of which device it is connected to. It is virtually unusable now.

Broke Within 1 Week
I bought this speaker to clip to my bike to listen to music while I was riding. Within 1 week, the hinged portion of the clip detached and came apart, making the clip part completely unusable. I emailed JBL asking if they could at the very least send me the screw and spring needed to repair the clip myself, only to be told that this sort of damage isn't covered by warranty. I wouldn't waste your time with this product.

Brilliant Upgrade
Review of JBL Clip 3 speaker
If there is one word to describe this upgraded micro speaker, it would be brilliant. Brilliant in the sense of being well designed to increase volume, the battery life of the speaker, and brilliant terms of the sound quality. I am a food delivery courier and use this speaker on my bicycle on average six hours per day. It is crucial that speaker that I attach to my backpack can cut through road noise when producing audio directions, music and spoken word. This upgrade succeeds on all fronts. It is noticeably louder than the Clip 2 and, in addition to loudness, there is a brilliance (brightness) level which I can clearly detect depending on the quality of the source material. four instance, I have compared the sound quality, at their best available bit rates, of Amazon Prime Music and Tidal Hifi. The speaker demonstrated the poor quality of the Amazon audio output; it sounds muddy and without any real dynamic range from between or within tracks. On Tidal, the brilliance of voice and bass overtones comes through in a striking way, I would call it really good. For instance, in GQ’s Disco Nights (Rock Freak), the opening base line had a real head-turning pinch as I rode in heavy traffic by London’s Liverpool St. Station. In fact, I would say it sounds better than the UE Boom 2 in both the tightness of the baseline and the brilliance of overturns and treble sounds. I also note that listening to spoken word is much clearer, in noisy traffic. This is an ideal set-up+ for a dedicated Radio 4 listener using iPlayer.
The only minor complaint I would have, and it’s not really very major, is that telephone calls are not quite as loud as they seem to be on the Clip 2.
Nevertheless the phone over Bluetooth solution seems to cut through traffic noise and I can use it comfortably when speaking with people on fixed lines and also on various mobile and hands-free devices. I never have anyone telling me that they can’t hear or understand what I’m saying, unless there is a poor mobile connection.

Sounds great, long battery life!
Sounds great and the battery life is great for me. I use it from Mon-Fri at work (6-8 hrs a day) with low volume. I only charge it once a week. I haven't tried using it in a wet condition. I wish the range was a little further. The USB cable is very short. Not ideal for charging. You'll have to get a longer cable.
I give a 5 stars for Sound, Battery and Durability. Easy clip and carry on you, has a decent bass kick to it.

Removed the sync to other JBL speakers.
The only reason I picked JBL for a smaller clip speaker was that I was under the impression that it would pair to my other JBL speaker. However the sync feature is removed with the clip 3 from the clip 2 model. Super disappointed and will not be recommending it any more.

Great sound.
How does this thing not have an option to turn off the auto off feature? How is it not even able to be customized in the JBL app, like turning off the permanent power saving mode or even just renaming it or seeing how much battery is left, ect? And I've seen by looking at other reviews you can't even pair these together, "daisychain"....really? Just terrible. But i guess as long as you remember to charge it and remember it loves to turn itself off it does sound great and it's actually louder than i expected it to be.

Was Dropped thrice.
The volume of the speaker reduced whenever it fell on the ground from over 1.2m height.
As this product has a rubber covering/finish, its volume still reduced. I remember how it sounded the first time when I bought it. It was hearing enough for 6% volume. Now I put 30% volume after the drop from the table. I got 6% volume. So the 6% volume when it was brand new lost its volume in the drop on the ground, now I am having to put the volume at 30%. And gradually, the volume decreased as the product was dropped due to my mistake. :( I appreciate your company if you have repairing procedure.

Impressed by the Clip 3
the Clip 3 is my first smart speaker. I love it. I have never gotten close to running out of charge yet. There is bass compromise, owing to size, but it is tasteful & tolerable. Clarity and detail are great. The Clip 3 exceeded my expectations.

Sound quality...amazing!
I got my JBL 3 clip speaker last week and it has been amazing. It came prd-charged so I have yet to charge it. It came with 80%charge. I use it in my home and in my car because I misplaced my auxiliary cord somehow and this has been a great replacement to listen to music in my car on the go. I did notice when I got a phone call it defaulted to the phone speaker. It did give me the option to select taking my call through my IPhone 12 Pro Max settings or the JBL. No biggie...just thought I mentioned that. Overall I love it! Oh I personalized mine and it looks fantastic...true match!

Micro USB?
Super awesome speaker! I love it! Compact, lightweight, and great quality. One hiccup... I’m sure this will be updated in the Clip 4 but why does it have micro USB for charging? My family has had the Flip 5 for almost a year now, and it has USB type-C, as is now standard on every new device (with the exception of some Apple products, of course). Still, the charging cable that comes in the box also assumes you have USB 3.0 for your charging block? All of my devices come with USB type-C charging blocks now. I have no use to keep USB 3.0 charging blocks around. It’s not the biggest deal, and I would give my review a 4.5 if I could, because a whole star is a bit harsh. Excited to see an update to this though!

Great Sound Quality!
I got this unit to replace my Flip 3 because the charger broke on it. The tonality of the Clip 3 is very good for it's small size and the base response is not bad. My only complaint is that if you want to use it for cell phone calls, the volume range of the speaker is rather low for phone calls and even on full volume, it can be difficult to hear the caller. Since that is my primary use for the Clip 3, I am a bit disappointed. But when I listen to jazz, the sound fidelity is excellent!!!

loud and easy to pair
at first I gave it a mediocre reveiw because I spent $60 off JBL.com--I had it personalized so guess that justifies the extra $15-I've had other things from different companies personalized and this one JBL did is very nice-the picture is nice and crisp-others complain that the clip broke-mine seems to have a metal ring around the speaker-there is a rubber coating around the inside of the clip so you don"t damage anything you clip it to-all in all, nice speaker-the reason I don't give it 5 stars, to me, 5 stars means needs no improvement-there is always room for improvement

Dynamite Comes In Small Packages
I bout this for use on the golf course. I never anticipated that it was going to pack the punch that it does. The low end is incredible and it dwarfs the Clip 2 that I had prior. The charge has lasted two rounds now before having to charge it. All of my buddies are wanting one now too. Great speaker for the price. I have now found myself using it at home, in my office, and on walks in the evening.

I have purchased several for my nieces and nephews. They loved them so much I got one for myself and understand why. I clip it on my belt loop or near by while working around the yard. How far away can your phone be from the speaker?
The Bluetooth range varies. Under normal circumstances, you can expect a range of 10 meters with no problems. More than that, the signal will get unstable. Bluetooth can also be heavily influenced by surrounding environment depending on what other signals you have at your place(Wifi router) that could interrupt and wall material between speakers.

Step 2: Put the Clip 3 in pairing mode by pressing on the BT button until it flashes

On IOS devices there will be a battery indicator for your speaker when connected via either bluetooth or aux, there is also not an app for it.

Is there any way to switch off the alert sounds when the speaker is switched on/off and when music is paused? I use it for playing music during a yoga class & the additional and very annoying sounds are ruining my experience of using this product.
JBL Clip 3 alert sound can be modified through the JBL Connect App. You can download this from Google Play or the AppStore for free.

I need to use this as a speakerphone in my non-smart car. My question is: Once this is turned on, will it remain on for any incoming calls, or will it auto shut off after 10 minutes?
JBL Clip 3 an be used as a speakerphone. It has a built-in battery, and it will go into standby mode after 10-15 minutes of inactivity.

The carabiner on the Clip 3 is 1 1/8 in width, 1 1/4 tall. You can attach anything less than the specified measurements.
