Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Speakers I used radio streaming, I listen to my favorite christian radio station from Cleveland, Ohio while I am in Dayton, Ohio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Job done right the first time. Got the new speaker for my swimspa. Water and wet hands required something hands free and water proof. I'm a Google guy so this is perfect. Responsive to my voice commands and sounds clear and thump when playing music. Excellent choice if you need something by the pool, jacuzzi, shower... anyplace that might get wet. Wonderful product. Maybe some colors or even floating in next model?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big fun! Bought this as a family Christmas present and we had a lot of fun with the Google assistant - it can only get better! The kids were in hysterics thinking of daft questions to ask - sometimes the answers were quite good. The sound is excellent, the build quality is 5 star and the big plus is that this is the only battery blue tooth speaker with an assistant that you can carry from room to room. Brilliant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Google Assistant sets the speaker apart The speaker sounds great with all the levels balanced out. The Google Assistant works just as well as on any Google Home product and it makes the speaker a lot of fun to use too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery’s don’t hold a charge longer than a hour I have bought 5 of these speakers a little over a year ago now. There is not one of them that the charged battery will last more than a hour playing time before it dies. Not one of these paper weights hold a charge longer than a hour. And dealing with the customer service department is like dealing with the government. Yes I got one , ONE , of them replaced from customer service, but it took two months to do so. I would HIGHLY suggest you buy any other portable speaker as opposed to buying one of these pieces of junk. On my next review I will not be holding back , as I did on this review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL Link 20 I have been using this speaker for about 2 weeks now and I am really impressed with it. For a speaker that is just a bit bigger than a can of beer the sound quality is outstanding. I use it to listen to my Spotify account. It is loud has good bass, treble and mid tones. It has the great feature of Google which is very good as you can ask it whatever you like. Some of the things that I have asked it to do without any problems Are:- Play music. Play a certain song. Turn the volume up/down. Tell me a joke. (This is a personal favourite of my 3 children) Shut up! (This is a personal favourite of my grumpy miserable wife) What is the weather going to be like today? Set a timer/alarm. The battery lasts the whole day before needing to be charged. It comes with easy to follow set-up instructions and is really easy to use. An added feature of this speaker is that it is waterproof so you can use it outside, whilst in the shower/bathroom and not have to worry about it getting damaged by rain or the moisture from the bathroom. I would definitely recommend this speaker for its ease of use, outstanding quality in build and sound quality. It sits discreetly in a corner and is really easy on the eye.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked great for 2 months, now won't charge We bought this unit from Target in early October and was very pleased with how it worked..used it as a portable speaker for listening to movies, podcasts or watching movies. Two weeks ago, we went to use it and noticed it was dead. I turned it on and it flashed a single red light, which indicated that it was out of battery. I made sure it was plugged in and let it sit overnight. Tried it the next day and still no dice. I went through the procedures of resetting it and trying multiple times to get charging to work but it would never charge. I really likes this product when it worked but it's a shame that it only worked for 2+ months before becoming a paper weight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money!!!!!! Bought my JBL Link 20 a couple years ago and it worked great until I moved. I had the original box and SAFELY packed it away when I was packing all my things but when arrived at my destination it did not work. I could no longer set up the device in my google home app AND the bluetooth feature was not working. Customer Support helped and figured there was something wrong with the unit and had me send it back **at my cost**. I received another unit a little while later but lo and behold, it didnt work either. I sent that one back **at my cost** again and they sent me another one. Guess what.... same issues!!!!! I am done with this and moving to a portable speaker that works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Top Quality Sound I have to say I have been very impressed with this product. For someone who already owns a Google Home, I was blown away by the sound quality this piece of kit produced. Not only can it produce a tremendous amount of crisp sound but the base can be quite phenomenal too! In addition, the fact this item is waterproof meant that I could play music through this whilst in the shower or right next to me as I washed the dishes. The only negative I would say about this is sometimes takes longer to connect to the WiFi than some of my other devices. But for anyone willing to pay for this product, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart and Powerful This is the best sounding and most useful Bluetooth speaker I have experienced. First, the sound is amazing. JBL did it again with the Link 20 speaker. Great soundstage that fills any room in my house. The battery life is great. JBL claims 10hrs and that sounds about right. The Link 20 has a fabric around it,and rubber on the top and bottom, that is great for its IPX7 water and dust proof rating. I did submerge it in water and it was easy to dry off. Now for its smarts! I have been using Google Assistant on my phone for awhile now. You do not know until you use this feature, just how useful this is on Link speaker. I just say "hey google" play Netflix on my TV and it opens Netflix. I can even ask for a specific show. I use the casting feature to play my playlist and my wife's. The assistance knows who is talking and picks up our playlists. I can go on and on about Google Assistant, and it keeps getting better. From casting music, controlling smart home devices, checking my calendar, checking and creating appointments, and the list goes on. This is what makes the Link speaker stand out. I love what Google is doing with partnering up with the people at JBL that makes a great sounding portable speaker and putting their assistant in it. This is a great relationship, that produced a great speaker. I can not say enough about the Link 20 and cannot recommend it enough!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible speaker. I bought this speaker from target a while ago, and within days it would not stay connected to my phone so I'd be playing a song and it would just stop and cut out, then it would resume minutes later and it would be lagged. Like I would press the next song button on my phone and it would take 2 minutes before it would actually go to the next song on the speaker even though it had already been playing on my phone. This speaker was the biggest waste of money ever and I will never buy another JBL product. Very dissapointed! $200 down the drain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wonderful device, but it ain't quite there yet. I've had my Link 20 for a couple of weeks now. I love the sound quality, battery life, and the Google assistant is mostly brilliant. But there are some pretty major disappointments. First is the lack of support for sleep timers. Second is the inability to wake the speaker from Google Assistant, which wouldn't be a bother if the speaker remained on if connected to its charger. One of the uses I have for the speaker is voice control for the lights in my bedroom. I would like the speaker much more if I could say, "Ok Google, turn on the lights" when I get up while it's still dark. Works fine at bedtime, but it doesn't respond at 0530.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything I need I just bought this a few days ago and I must say I am impressed. The speaker does everything I want it to smart home and music wise, and it gets loud if you need it to. It also keeps a low profile which I like about it. Really blends in with the environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant I was given this for Christmas as I like to listen to music in the bathroom. It’s perfect & linking to my google Assistant makes it so easy to use. No leads & waterproof makes it ideal in my bathroom. The Speaker is amazing, I’m so happy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sounds Good - Missing Some Google Home Features Device sounds good, sounds really good outdoors, has strong volume and good quality. Also has strong battery life, works great for music and some questions. It's missing a couple things. 1) It can't do speakerphone over Bluetooth (that's silly), 2) it can't do Google Home calls over internet like a Google Home or Google Mini can, 3) you can't adjust the EQ settings on this device like a Google Device, 4) I don't think it does alarms and reminders the same as a Native Google Home device. Would be nice if JBL would open up most of that. I also suspect that it gets crackly at times when the wifi connection is slow. Almost sounds like a blown speaker, but then it'll go away...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Software is buggy. No google home updates Starting about 2 months ago I have been unable to set any timers or use it for any sort of white noise. Any time I try to do these things it tells me there's an error and to try again later. From the first time I emailed support I've been told it would only be a week or two till a update is pushed out. If this is how long it takes them to fix a bug that breaks something we'll likely never see any new features that google puts out for their devices. If I could return this I would so save your self the hassle and stay away!
Date published: 2018-03-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in nearly every department What a device! The quality of the sound is first rate, the ease of use is superb and the features are a joy. I listen to BBC Radio 6 music a lot and to be able to ask for it to be streamed rather than messing around getting a Bluetooth connection is what technology to enrich our lives is all about. The only slight downside is the reduction in battery life compared to a Bluetooth version and I'm assuming this is due to the Google assistant. But the positives massively outweigh this slightly negative point. Overall, it's superb and why did I wait so long to buy one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this device! Great device! The integration of the Google Assistant which allows me to play my music through a very good quality speaker without having to use my phone is great! I've used it constantly since I received it! My wife loves it too! We used it all night before Thanksgiving as she made pies for the next day. This device only makes me want to go purchase other compatable products to use in my home!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well so far, one wish... This works well so far. It picks up my voice from another room when I say "hey google", but I'm actually talking to a Google home mini in the same room as I'm in! Outdoors, it doesn't pick up my voice quite as well yet, but it might be where we have to set it now. My only wish is that the volume control through Google home changed in smaller increments. For example, if we say "Hey Google, volume UP", it jumps up more than we wish it did. Same for down. We have found it better to say it in increments of percentages, like "Hey Google, volume 65 percent". JBL shipped it out very fast, too, with rapid shipping, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound Great sound all around connect to wifi without any problem. Google assistant works good even while playing music at low volumes, sound is very clear. I didn't even hear cracking once on this speaker, you can count on jbl when it comes to audio systems

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Smart Speaker Ever I've never seen a product that's not ready to be sold in the market. Purchased 2 x JBL Link 20 and none of the two works, it stuck during setup with Google Home App, I always get to "Before using Google Assistant", and when I clicked on the Next link on the bottom of that page, a popup window states "Problem connecting to cloud" Basically an expensive "Smart Speaker" that doesn't work. On top of that, JBL Customer Service is pointing that Google should solve that. If JBL Link 20 cannot connect with Google Home, then JBL should STEP UP and work it out with Google and FIX this DARN ISSUE! I have Google Home smart speaker all over the house, and was looking forward to use JBL Link 20 next to my pool. BUT NO! I cannot. I've spent enough time trying to make it work, sorry but these two are going back!

WHY CANT THE JBL XTREME CANT LINK TO THE JBL LINK 20

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi, the Link speakers unfortunately does not have the Connect/ Connect + feature as the Link series are mainly used as Google assistant and cannot be connected to your Charge 3/Xtreme/Flip 4 . You can in turn Sync all the Link speakers using the Google home app and make a group of speakers that plays the same music at the same time.

Same thing happened to me. Press and hold the "Mute Microphone" button under the power button for about 13 seconds. Once you see a red light above the power button, you can let go and it'll be master reset.

If I wanted the Link 20 to be plugged into a wall at all times like a Google Home speaker, would I be advised against doing so? Would charging it for an extended amount of time ruin the battery?

Asked by: jakotas
The JBL Link 20 is safe to use while plugged in to the wall. This would convert your speaker into a home product, and would allow the speaker to remain on even when it is idle; thus, continuous usage throughout the day. The battery would stop charging as soon as it gets to 100% charge.

The JBL Link 20 is a voice activated and more importantly portable product. As such, it should not shut itself off after 1 hour of inactivity when it's not connected to a power. My ?, are you able to enhance where the user can decide on the setting?

Asked by: Steve T
If your Link 10 or Link 20 is running on its battery, it will automatically turn off after one hour to preserve power. Without this feature, it would eventually drain the battery completely. However, when your Link 10 or Link 20 is connected to an electrical outlet, it will remain powered on and active. If your Link is not behaving like this, please submit a case request at www.jbl.com/support-contact.html and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to further assist you.

How do you connect via bluetooth

Asked by: Redmonkey2346
Thanks for the question. You will need to set up your JBL Link 20 through the Google Home App. Once you've successfully set up your speaker. You can either press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3-5 seconds or command Google by saying "Hey Google, turn on Bluetooth". This would turn on the Bluetooth and you'll see the Bluetooth button flash white. You then go to your phone's Bluetooth settings to pair your phone to the Link 20. If successful, you'll see a solid white light on the Bluetooth button of the Link 20 and you can play music through your phone. You may also mute the voice assistant so it won't override the music you're playing through Bluetooth by pressing the mic button on the Link 20. Does it has the same sound quality as the Charge 3, or in other words, is it a "Charge 3 with Voice Assistant"? If not, what would be the equivalent speaker in terms of sound?

Asked by: mendez
The JBL Link 20 and the Charge 3 both has a frequency response of 65Hz–20kHz. So you are correct with it having the same sound quality with the Charge 3. Can I link 2 Link 20s or 2 Link 300s to provide true stereo music playback?

Asked by: Thomscot
Hi, and thank you for your interest! Yes, you can set up a stereo set with these two models as pairs. Do not mix the two models, though. You will need software version 1443 on the Link speakers, and Google Cast version 1.2.30 to do it.

I have a strong internet connection but my Link 20 stops playing after 30 or so seconds. I can ask google to play and it will but then cuts out. Any idea of what the problem is? Does it need to be reset? Thanks.

Asked by: Hero18
Your Wireless router might need a reboot, unplug power for 1 minute and connect power again. Reboot your JBL Link 20, simply by disconnecting power or turning power off if it has battery, now connect power again. Reset your speaker by pressing the Microphone mute button for 15 seconds. After 30-45 seconds, the speaker should complete the reboot and you'll hear the welcome message. Try setting your device up again to your Wireless network. If the problem persists, we would like to work with you directly to help you with your issue. Please submit a case request at https://www.jbl.com/support-contact.html and the Customer Service Team will be more than happy to assist you.
