Product Q&A

Hi, I’m travelling in US and leaving Tuesday evening. Is there any your store or retailer in New York I can get the same discount as online? I’m looking at this A190 and Studio series speakers. Thanks.

I'm interested in building a 5.1 system around your A series. The A190s would need to be placed very close to room corners. Can I order vent plugs (similar to those used on the A120) to reduce exaggerated bass?

Asked by: tedc
Unfortunately, we do offer vent plugs for our JBL A190, as it's not designed to be placed up against a wall. We understand that the speakers will go in the corners. We recommend setting the speakers to SMALL (not large or full range). This will allow you to set the crossover between the A190's and the sub. Try setting it at 60Hz or 80Hz, well above the tuned frequency of the rear-firing port tubes. In this way, the ports would be virtually inactive, and the sub will handle all the subsonic frequencies.

I just bought A190 L+R, A135c Center, A170 Rear and A120p Sub .I have a Onkyo amp, when I ran my audyssey auto setup it configured this way. A190 full band A135 80hz A170 full band and sub 80hz. Is this proper set up, anything I should change. Thx

Asked by: Duke77
You could try setting your A190 to 50hz, your A170 to 60hz, A135 should be fine at 80hz. Sub would handle below 50hz. Auto eq's often set towers speakers to full band which is usually fine for music but if you're watching movies you'd want the sub producing the lower frequencies since it's built for the purpose. A properly blended sub works great in stereo mode with music too. Your Towers will thank you as well as now they aren't being so taxed trying to produce the lower frequencies. It's all about the seamless blend amongst your speakers. You could also move up a tad and try a 60hz/70hz/90hz, sub handles below 60hz. You would might gain a little clarity but I don't know how the bass response would be in your home. Experimenting is where the fun it with set ups! Good luck!

I am going for 5.1.4 setup with a190 as front L/R. What to choose as center 135c or 125c? and do these rest match: For the ceiling, I am going with 4 arena 6ic's, for sub 120p and for surround I am planning to go with Polk fxia4 bipole. AVR Denon x3700H

Asked by: aarin
We'd like to work with you directly about how you're planning your setup with our Stage A190. It really depends on how many output power your amplifier is able to provide along with how big your room is to determine which center channel is better to be used. I have a the AVR 1710s. I’m using these as my left and right. What setting should the crossover be?

Asked by: HDTestryder
The crossover setting should be adjusted in respect to compliment your other speakers. 100Hz or 120Hz is a great starting point, but we recommend that you adjust it according to your preference.

Why are these series all 6 ohm? Will it conflict with my rear and center 8 ohm speakers?

Asked by: Kel1010
Thanks for your question. The difference between our JBL Stage A190 from your previous 8-ohm speakers is that it will play a little louder as it draws more power from your amplifier/receiver.
