Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, nice sounding, convenient... I received these for free through JBL's Backstage Pass program. After taking the product out of the package I noticed two things that look like they’ll be quite convenient. First, the individual earpieces settle into place in the charging case very easily thanks to some strategically placed magnets. They each lit up and the case lit up as well, so there was already a decent charge ready to go. I still plugged it in before using them though. Second, they feel lightweight but still solid and well made. In use, they are quite convenient compared to some other headphones I’ve used. I listen to a lot of podcasts, so I like to skip through ads or other things in the podcasts and you usually have to hold a button down for a couple seconds or double press a button that isn’t easy to find or press. On these JBLs, it’s a simple single button press on the left ear and it works quite well. Skipping backwards is a double press of the same button, which isn’t quite as easy but still works. On big headphones I would find this a problem, but given that these are quite small it works quite well. Probably the only function that is missing is volume up/down. Sounds quality is awesome for me. Again, I mostly listen to podcasts so don’t interpret this as an audiophile’s opinion, but I do think sound quality is quite nice. Battery life also appears good, but I haven’t quite gotten to the 4 hours of straight listening time yet. I did 3 hours today and that was fine. I love the feature that every time you put the headphones back in the case they charge again, but it makes it a touch hard to gauge headphone-only battery life when I rarely listen for 4 hours straight. Overall, I’m thrilled with my first pair of “truly wireless” headphones. I wasn’t convinced on this style because I was unsure on battery life, but the way the battery is implemented with the charging case makes that worry go away. So, they work great, are comfortable, sound good, and are convenient. For me, that’s a major win.

Oh , and the Sound , they do Sound Great... ! I like the fact that they are not bulky by any means.. like other products in the market.. I have to say this is a Product very Well Made ... Thank You JBL Team for making Great Products , for all of us to enjoy... I used them last night while i was working out , they feel good in my ears , they stay in place without moving at all , didn't fall off , not even once.. Also , used them while i was running , they stay put , & sound great.. I am surprised of how well they block ambient noises when having them on higher volume.. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fits in my ears perfectly and I have already used it to go for a run and work out. I never had a issue in adjusting them and Sound quality is very excellent and my one friend is actually about to buy them because they're at a great price and worth it 100 percent.

I'm interested in buying a pair of these, but am being influenced by the reviews to stay away. Is there any corporate message about the quality and reliability of this product, and if/how any of the issues have been addressed?

Asked by: DanW
there is a warranty.. but don't let the naysayers convince you that these arent worth the money..

I'm expecting loss of soud while listening music through JBLFree X, or "lost of package" in sound. How to solve this problem, since I have disconnected bluetooth and connected again, without solving the problem?

Asked by: OscarBJ
Hi, please try to pair your JBL FreeX to other phone/devices and see if that would do the same thing. If you still need assistance, please submit a case request and so we can assist you: www.jbl.com/support-contact.html

Do the blue light rings stay lit when being used? I don't want light coming from my ears.

Asked by: Imix4u
Yes, the blue light will stay while being used as it is an indicator that the unit is paired to a device.

I've heard something about the JBL free X's not being in sync while for example watching a YouTube video. Is it true, and if it is, can it be "fixed"?

Asked by: Emil Rex
The JBL Free and most of our Bluetooth portable products are not necessarily designed to be used as a speaker for video. If the device has the option of a wired connection, we recommend using this as an alternative. In this case, the Free X doesn't have a wired connection. What you are experiencing is a limitation of Bluetooth. When you start the video and audio at the same time, the audio will lag behind by the length of time it takes the Bluetooth hardware to receive, process and output it which is known as Latency. You won’t notice this lag if you’re listening to music, but if you’re watching a video the sound may be marginally out of sync or sometimes when it cannot process the audio format, it would completely stop. Latency varies depending on the hardware and software setups you have.

I think it's just an updated version of the JBL free . They have better connection and sound quality.
