How many JBL 170 speakers are needed for a home theate system

Asked by: Srini
Since the ARENA 170 is a floor-standing speaker, it normally is being used as Front Left & Right speakers. Having this said, two of this will work well paired with other Arena series speaker for your Center and Surround channel speakers.

I am looking for a good stereo set up. Not very fond of subwoofers and surround sound systems. But I am very much a audiophile when it comes to the quality a speaker can deliver. Can the Arena 170 used on stereo amp deliver a well balanced experience?

Asked by: ByronTheron
Certainly. The ARENA 170 and the whole series in general was inspired by the Master Reference Monitor series which assures that you'll get the best value from your purchase providing you clean, and powerful high and low-ends.

Can I use this speakers for marantz pm 7005 amp?

Asked by: Johnyprabha
Hi Johny, and thank you for your interest in JBL! If you look at the specifications for the amplifier and the speakers, you will find that they match each other fine, at least based on the numbers. Your amplifier is rated at 60 Watts into 8 Ohm loads, and the speakers are recommended with amplifiers between 20 and 200 Watts. When it comes to how loud you can play, whether the audio balance is to your liking etc., that is of course another matter, and almost solely determined by taste and the acoustics.

Besides the price difference why should I buy the Arena 170 and not the Arena 180?

Asked by: L Turney
The ARENA 180 has dual 7-inch (178mm) high-output polycellulose woofers, while the ARENA 170 only has one. This makes the 170 produce a far neutral bass response versus the 180. Also the Arena 170 is smaller in size.

Asked by: ERMANNO
I see here and checked that the Crown XLI 800 is rated at 300W @ 4 ohms while the Arena 170 can handle 20-200W @ 8 ohms. while the wattage of the Amplifier is higher, due to the high impedance rating of the speaker it would only play at a low volume. We would suggest getting an amplifier that is rated @ 8 ohms and can drive between 20-200W.

I'm not sure if seeing no reviews of this product is a good or a bad thing. Do these speakers do very well with music and or Hard Rock  with just a 7" and no smaller mid that's good for voice. Do these speakers compare well with the es250p sub.

Asked by: camiester
These are great sounding speakers. They give the best of both worlds. Many people actually prefer the sound of a bookshelf speaker, but often feel they are missing just a little bit of bass. The ARENA 170 is a bookshelf speaker in a bigger enclosure, allowing for deeper bass response. It sounds great. If you add an ES250P to it, it will be amazing, as the ES250P will cover all of the subsonic frequencies. The two together will be great.
