Studio L880 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ditto to every review here I just wanted to add that I power these speakers with (2) monophonic 1955 Grommes 61pg 20 watt 5881 tube amplifiers. These are very sensitive speakers. A pleasant listening volume can be attained with only a few watts. In five years of listening, I did have to replace the surround on one woofer. Original drivers were unavailable, so I had the speaker professionally repaired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Performance!!!! I have had these speakers for about 5 years now, and I will not ever let these go. I use these mostly for music and they are absolutely beautiful. I listen to alot of jazz and soul music and the sound reproduction is amazingly clear, balanced, and accurate. The highs and mids are very clean and the bass is very smooth and hits even lower bass tones, so i never needed to add a sub for music. The bass is never boomy yet very solid. I use a Harman Kardon HK3490 to push these and have zero complaints. The black color of these fit my home decor as well and the build quality is perfect. If you are in the market for excellent sound, look no further. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the Best!! They rock. Ran quite a few amps and AVR's to both pair of my L880's to finally get the sound I wanted. Took about 170 Onkyo watts per channel in the family room, and 120 Harman Kardon watts in the bedroom....much to the dismay of my girlfriend. Super clean sound. Crisp highs....subtle lows. To me, they sound best straight 2 channel receiver with a turntable.... and loud. I think from a sound and design standpoint, they will sound most excellent for decades, while increasing in value. Thanks James B. Lansing.....wherever you are.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best speakers I've ever bought I'm no audiophile, and I don't have an unlimited budget, but back in 2007 these L880 towers blew me away! I have been listening to them constantly through a good matching stereo amp, and it's been more than a pleasure. I've had to replace the high frequency driver due to a mishap in dust cleaning, but other than that the L880s have been problem free. The bass is so good that sometimes I don't even need to turn on my JBL Studio L8400 sub - it's that good! The mids and highs come out crystal clear as they say, but so does dialog - compared to the dialog from my TV, which sometimes I need subtitles in order to understand what is being said. If your audio source is good, you will feel the difference these towers make in your listening enjoyment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tower Speakers! These are all the speaker you will ever need for most systems. They sound great and crystal clear. Unless you have a big room where you may need the larger 890s, the 880s are perfect for most applications. You can pay more for other brands, but I don't think you'll get more for your dollar.

Can my L880's be used in a 7.1/7.2 system? I noticed at the back of each speaker cabinet 2 separate ways to connect to my receiver.

Asked by: PeterNL
You can use either of the terminals at the back to connect the speaker to an amp. If you are looking into bi-amp or bi-wire connection, that is the only time that you will use both terminals.

I have an Onkyo TX8160 for a receiver . The TX-8160 delivers stereo power at 80 W/Ch (8 Ohms, 20 Hz−20 kHz, 0.1%, 2 Channels Driven, FTC) 110 W/Ch (6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 0.1%, 1 Channel Driven, FTC). Will this receiver work with the L880's?

Asked by: BHenry
It will work just fine. These can handle up to 200w. I run 120w and can crank the volume and never have distortion.

Yes, the L880 is not a stand alone speaker, so you would need an amp in order for it to work.

Is there any difference between wood made and titanium made L880? Some say titatium makes the sound clearer. Could you tell me any difference in detail?

Asked by: HeeDong
Thank you for your question. From my knowledge there isn't a thing as a wood made transducer, at least nothing of JBL. The L880 comes in with different cabin trims, but they all have the same titanium tweeter.

How do the L880's stack up against the Century L-100's?

Asked by: Duffer2910
The JBL Studio series was their best speaker series ever, because all speakers were 3-way 8-ohm and used incredibly Titanium Tweeters. The L-Studio series raised this performance a bit higher because of a Super Tweeter. It truly is a shame JBL has discontinued the Studio and L-Studio series. The new Series 500 speakers do not offer the same quality and are very disappointing. The new Series 500 speakers have Floor Towers that are 3-way, but the Center channel speaker that goes with them is only 2-way. This is a HUGE disappointment. I've had several friends who were loyal to JBL for decades end up buying speakers from other manufacturers, because that was the only way to obtain 8-ohm 3-way speakers that have a Tweeter made of Titanium. ... Remember, there is a ladder for quality with a Tweeter. Lead is at the bottom. Lead coated with Aluminum is the next step up the ladder. 100% Aluminium is next up the ladder. Aluminum coated with Titanium is better. And the best one of all is 100% Titanium.

Hello! Please tell me how well packaged dynamics in the shipping box? They film (bag)? Do gasket between the speakers and the wall of the box? Are they not damaged during transportation? If possible, send a photo as they are packaged. Thank you!

Asked by: Kuzzzy123
It's not possible to send a photo as they are packaged. However, to give you an idea, there's a pad at the top and bottom and a detachable grille from the front, that effectively protects the speaker from damage. It also comes with the following items: Owner's Manual Warranty Card Foot, Bump-on, 3m Kit, Spike Feet

does Studio L880 work with Denon - 1295W 7.2-Ch. 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver

Asked by: RochSoftly
The STUDIO L880 could handle up to 200W while the Denon puts out 125W per channel. So yes, it does work with Denon.
