Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible boomy sound and defective firmware! I have gone through three now and all of them have sounded mid bass heavy. And there is no eq like there is with other google speakers. But the worst part is the software. It must share the same software as the link portable because after about 20-30 minutes it goes to sleep and nothing will work until you say the “hey google” command. And you have to be looking directly at it to see if that works because after it goes to sleep none of the confirmation sounds work until the next time. Have spent hours talking and messaging support but they don’t have a clue. The last person kept telling me it’s designed that way to save battery power. The link music doesn’t have a battery!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Set-up sucks Got this for Christmas. As a non-millennial, I found the setup impossible. Numbers would help. #1 Plug in, etc. Second, designate the model as something other than "Music" - a double-meaning word. Third, your chat system is not helpful quickly. 24-48 hours????? Fourth, this fact is not disclosed. "The Bluetooth feature requires a Google account sign-in before it is enabled." Fifth, website should have easy to find setup instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small with BIG sound! I was a little skeptical about this speaker at first because of the small size but let me tell.. this thing sounds GREAT. This is my first smart speaker and I am loving it. I didn't think I would be using this as much. I love how it flawlessly connected to my Google Home setup and my other smart connected app. It doesn't take much room at all. It looks great on my home music studio desk. If you are thinking about this speaker you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little speaker! I've been using the Link Music for almost a week now, and it's awesome! I put it on a shelf in my home office. I really love the minimal design, it works well there because I like to keep it uncluttered in there. However, don't be fooled by the small size, this thing gets pretty loud! It has a nice full sound, which you really wouldn't expect when you see it. Also, I don't use voice assistance too much in general, but I gotta say, it's pretty handy to be able to control the music so quickly and easily. Sometimes I'm working and have my hands full in there, and it's nice to be able to quickly pause the music or change the song.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful connectivity to Google Home Connected this speaker to my Google Home app and after responding to one command the LED lights would flash on and off from left to right and be unable to do anything for up to two minutes. No response to voice commands, no response to button touches. I called the support phone line and the response I got was, "Huh, that's weird". Terrible product, terrible support.

Product Q&A

Can you use this as a speaker for a Smart TV with WFI and streaming through a chrome cast on the TV?

Asked by: Blackbeltmom
Our JBL Link Music can be connected through Google Home app on Wifi. If your Samsung TV can access Google Home then you can connect them together.

Will a plugged in Link Music turn itself off when idle for sometime? What JBL calls "standby mode". Which will limit it's use as a Google Home replacement just like the Link 10?

Asked by: potential
The JBL Link Music is constantly connected to WiFi, there is no battery built-in, so it won't shut down as it would with LINK 10 and 20 on battery. When the device goes into standby mode, it will reduce power consumption to 2W (certified for WiFi products). That happened after 30 minutes of not interacting with the device whether the MIC is On or Off (Muted). When you ask a question, the device will wake up work as usual. You can also use BT, WiFi, etc. to wake up the device. If you have the product "muted" or pressing any buttons on the device will even wake it up.

If I wanted to buy multiple speakers, so I can have one speaker in a number of rooms, will all speakers stream music at the same time, and can the volume of each room be different?

Asked by: Brad JBL Shopper
Yes, you can place multiple Link speakers in different rooms and stream music in all of the speakers at the same time using the Google Home App. You can adjust the volume of each speaker individually using the physical buttons.

i purchased two of these speakers thinking i could link them. is that the case?

Asked by: lay1993
Thanks for reaching out. If you have two of the same model Google Assistant speakers, you can create a stereo speaker system. Here's how: Open the Google Home app. Find the speaker you want to set up in stereo pairs. Find the speaker/room. Tap on Settings. Go to Sound Settings. Find the Speaker pair. You are now entering the setup page pair Tap Next. Find your speaker under the Pair with list and tap. Move the speaker to be Left or Right side and press Next. You can tap on Play sound to identify which speaker it is. Find a name for your Stereo pair. It takes a minute to complete the setup. When the configuration is done it will say Ready READY. Press Done

Several other answers here (and in other publications) say THIS speaker CANNOT be paired in STEREO! I want to buy the 2 PAIR edition, but need to be sure that these speakers CAN be paired in STEREO.

Asked by: marcolopes
Our JBL Link Music does not have a feature that connects with other devices for stereo sound however you can link multiple devices to the Link portable via the Google Home App and play the same kind of music in all devices that's connected the the Link Portable.

Just received this as a gift. Love it so far. A question - can I stream music from my Windows 10 Laptop via wifi to this speaker? I haven't found a way to do this. Thanks

Asked by: JoeOC
Hi Mario and thanks for your reply. I did know about Bluetooth. My question relates to WiFi streaming. Quoting from your website description ... "Wireless streaming via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth...Stream music on your JBL Link Portable effortlessly. Keep the music going with seamless Wi-Fi or Bluetooth streaming" So I am unclear about the "WiFi Streaming" ... in particular from a PC..... Thanks in advance.

HI I JUST BOUGHT THE JBL SMART LINK SPEAKER I PUSH THE POWER BUTTON ON TOP AND NOTHING HAPPENS OR DO I HAVE TOUSE THE ASSISTANT APP TO TURN IT ON

Asked by: DON1951
Our JBL Link Music doesn't have a power button. Simply plug in the power cord to an AC wall outlet and it will automatically turn on. Once it's on, you need to download and install the Google Home app to your phone so you could set it up and connect it to your home Wi-Fi. Does the product support JBL Connect+?

Asked by: Saty G
Thank you for your question. The Link Music speaker does not come with Connect+. However, you can link the speaker with other smart speakers in the Google Home app by creating a group. Should you wish to receive further support, you may contact the Harman Customer Support team by telephone, email or chat in order to receive direct assistance.
