Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speakers. Super bass !!!!! I've had these speakers for a few weeks and each time I listen to them I am amazed at the sound for the price. Great highs, I really like the tweeter setup, and I cannot believe the bass response I am getting from these. My former speakers had a 10" woofer and I never dreamed I would get better bass out of speakers with 2- 6.5 woofers. I highly recommend these. And great service , very fast shipping and they really know how to pack these speakers, big heavy boxes.

I am looking to build a 5.1 home theatre with 2 es80 speakers. which speaker would match best with these for a center speaker? Also for the rear bookshelf speakers? Thanks

Asked by: Mark0101
The ES80 speakers can handle up to 200 watts per channel. This means that any receiver with a power output of 200 watts per channel or less will work fine with these speakers. If you're looking for a home theater system to match your existing receiver, here are the general rules to picking out speakers for your system. 1. Make sure the receiver can handle the impedance/ohms of the speakers. Typical impedance and 8 ohms is almost never a problem. 2. Make sure that the speakers you choose can handle the power rating of your receiver. If you have a 100 watt per channel receiver, be sure the speakers you choose have a wattage rating of 100 watts or higher. 3. Stick with the same series of speaker, so that all of the speakers have the same sonic tonal quality, giving you a seamless transition when sound travels from one speaker to another. For example, if you select the ARENA 180 floor standing speakers for your front speakers, be sure to select the ARENA series center and bookshelf speakers for your rears.

Sir i have es80 i ordered it last dec. es80 have 4 connection at back. How can i stall this. Thanks

Asked by: Tony57
You'll notice a metal strap connecting the two negative terminals together, and one connecting the two positive terminals together. When those straps are there, it is a regular speaker with only two terminal, one positive and one negative. You can connect them like you would any other speaker. Now, if you remove the two metal straps, you have just separated the woofer from the rest of the speaker. You can now biamp your speaker if you'd like. If you have two amplifiers, and you want to use one amp for the bass and the other amp for the mids and highs, you can do it by removing these straps. Once removed, the bottom terminals go directly to the bass speakers while the top terminals go directly to the mids and highs. NOTE: This is VERY important. NEVER connect two amplifiers to these terminals when the straps are in place. If you do this, you will blow both amplifiers instantly, and possibly the speakers as well.

The ES80 speakers can handle up to 200 watts per channel. This means that any receiver with a power output of 200 watts per channel or less will work fine with these speakers. If you're looking for a 5.2 home theater system, a single AVR will do. Both receivers from our sister company, Harman Kardon, the AVR 1710S and AVR3700, will do a fine job driving these speakers based on your set up. It really comes down to your listening preference. For example, if your listening taste only requires 30 watts per channel of power in order to be loud enough for you, there would be no reason to get a 200 watt per channel amplifier, as you will never use all of that power. The most important thing is to get a receiver that puts out enough volume for you, without exceeding the 200 watt limit of the speakers.

does this only come with one or two speakers?

Asked by: mavrickdew
All of our floor standing speakers are sold as each, not in pairs. You would need to purchase 2 in order to end up with a pair.

Yes, both woofers are active. There are no passive radiators in this speaker. The only passive component in this speaker is the port tube in the rear.

Will the ES80 floor standing speakers work well with the studio 225c center channel speaker?

Asked by: Shannon
While the ES80 will work nicely with your STUDIO 225C, it will not be a perfect sonic match. If you are looking for the best sonic match, the STUDIO 280 or STUDIO 290 speakers will be the best match.

Can this speaker be connected to my flatscreen TV. I currently have a sound bar connected to the TV?

Asked by: Reno
The ES80 is purely a passive speaker that must be connected to an amplified audio receiver in order to perform. It cannot be connected directly to a TV.
