Great sound.
I bought this to replace an old sound bar that was 2.1. This JBL bar blows out the other. I got a 65" TV too and with the JBL 5.1 sound bar and the TV I just think I'm watching a movie at the theater. Just Love It !!!!

The new JBL Bar 5.1 Surround is a great soundbar to add to any TV to enjoy room filling sound with a quality soundbar, a large 10" subwoofer, and an HDMI ARC or optical connection for quick and easy hookup to your HD/4K TV. It also has ChromeCast and Apple's Airplay 2 built in, in addition to Bluetooth, to wirelessly stream music and content from virtually any device and get great quality sound. Great bass, Great sound, Great looks
What I love the most about these speakers is it's bass. It makes the whole cinema experience completely better. Generally, 5.1 speakers come with 3-4 different loose speakers, but this product has so easy to handle in a bar.
On top of the Airplay and Google Chromecast built in makes this a perfect bar of my home.

Bought this bar couple of days ago. I'm really disappointed about quality of sound. This is my first JBL device and, maybe, the last. It doesn't fill the room with surround sound. I've tried to calibrate it several times and there's almost no difference between TV speakers and this system.
Subwoofer works very well. Deep, soft bass. Really cool. But the whole system is not so good.
I can not update firmware, because I can't connect it to my WiFi. WiFi setup doesn't start after holding on/off button. Also, I can't update it via USB. The download link doesn't work.

Great Surround Sound. Useful features
I have been using the JBL Bar 5.1 Surround for a week and it sounds amazing. The 5.1 surround sound is really gives you an experience of a mini home theater. The bass from its sub-woofer is really rich and deep and balanced.
Overall the audio for movies and music is great.

Great for music
I basically only use this for music, mostly rap so plenty of bass. I've owned it for about a year and a half and it's taken all the abuse like nothing. If you plan on listening to music on this you'll be fine 100% vocals are crazy and has bass to back it up.

Ok sound. Bar turns off constantly
Our sound bar has ok sound. Definitely not as clear and crisp as our home theatre system in the basement. It’s nice to have something that works well in our living room that isn’t bulky. My biggest problem is that the bar turns off and tries to update constantly. It never seems to complete the update and then just restarts randomly. Which is frustrating in the middle of a movie and it starts updating and installing which it never completes….

Excellent Build Quality
I received this a few days ago, and immediately hooked it all up to my tv. I was first amazed how heavy and durable feeling the product was. It appeared to be some sort of metal material. The subwoofer was massive, and was heavy! The bass lacks a little in my opinion. The treble and high's are excellent, I do notice the surround sound quality that it should have. Super easy to hook up as well. The 4K and chromecast is a really nice feature as well.

Sleek and modern, amazing sound, strong bass punch
I have used multiple soundbars that always seemed to either lack in treble or bass. This soundbard does NOT disappoint. Crisp treble, punchy bass, it sounds like a movie theatre in your home! Everything is very sturdy and well made. I also love that I can connect via bluetooth to my phone and have a concert in my living room in seconds

Stopped working
I brought this on 24 July from very uk everything working fine.good sound.then the sound kept turning itself up to full volume.it would not turn down it had to be unplugged.now it will not turn on.email jbl 8 times.kept telling me to power it on and do this and do that.they don't read what you write. I CAN'T POWER IT UP!!!

Awesome price, awesome cinema sound
I researched for ages, needed an optical connection along with a decent wireless sub. So we got both with this. The sound is awesome since JBL uses its tech for all all cinemas and HK is the parent brand. Amazing sound in our cinema room and the front display is helpful unlike others where the display is on top. The sounds is crisp, the bass is deep when it needs to be. Recommend? Defo. A keeper, hope it lasts the test of time!

i used to own the jbl soundbar 3.1 and was blown away by the sound quality and the house shaking bass. i sadly had to get rid of it due to financial difficulties. i picked this up a week ago and was more excited than a kid ready to unwrap their christmas gifts. my face was that of a child’s who received socks for christmas while their siblings the gifts they yearned for. sound quality, bar alone without the subwoofer, was very flat and muffled. nothing stood out for me, not the sound quality, volume or the “surround sound”. you aren’t able to control the equalizer and only has 3 settings for the bass, which is sadly mundane. knowing JBL, i was waiting for an amazing experience when it came to watching action movies but sad in disappointment the whole time. the sound bar isn’t loud, clear and struggles highly to cover a broad range of sound. it is lacking many features and can really be improved when it comes to sound quality, especially at that price range. sad to see such an amazing company that improves their products year after year, produce a sound bar that can be comparable to ones that are a quarter of their price

I received this from the JBL backstage program and if there’s anything to say about this sound bar and subwoofer is that it is AMAZING it is so loud and the bass is great for when I connect my phone and listen to music and when we put in movies the whole house starts shaking the sound that comes from the sound bar is crystal clear and loud it is overall an amazing product I highly recommend it!

Warning! 4 stars for music but 1 star for movies.
Update your new JBL bar 5.1 system connect it to your internet with your ethernet cord because it's in demo mode and, demo mode sounds distorted. I do recommend optical cable install but I don't recommend HDMI because it's a big on bass music system. It will satisfactorily play a minority of movies but don't believe the hype if you're looking for a good quality soundbar system for movies then I highly recommend that you look into purchasing a 3.1 channel Sony soundbar surround sound system for your movies and, music for your peace of mind. In my opinion, why pay so much money for a Cadillac when you could've paid lesser for a Chevy because it's the same car but you're paying more for the name. The JBL bar 5.1 system is to highly priced but you're going to love the big 10" boom from the subwoofer set it up in the biggest room in your house or apartment this system sounds horribly distorted in small rooms...

Simple Set up with Great Features
This product is a great product to set up, as it is very simple connection wise, with it only requiring a few wires and not difficult bluetooth features. One area that this soundbar does a good job with, but only at louder volumes is the lows, as they can be room shaking at the right volume. With overall sound, I was expecting more, but it still packs a punch and sounds great when listening to music. Overall, I like this soundbar, it is simple and gets the job done, but at this pricepoint, it is not the best option for me.

It’s got more that enough power for my apartment. Bass is really deep and the sound clean and crisp. Only issue is that the mid is very faint. Which is understandable given it’s not a stand alone individual setup and all in one soundbar. Nonetheless definitely recommend if you want a little more punch and depth to movie nights.

One amazing sound bar!
This is by far the best soundbar I've used. The way you get surround sound without rear speakers is great. The technology behind this speaker is very advanced. What really blows me away is the performance of the sub-woofer. Most other soundbars I've heard have a very lacking woofer. This one is not! It shakes the room like a full, multi speaker set up. The only thing I had some trouble with was setting up my TV remote to control it. Once I did it twice though, I was fine. Bluetooth integration is a great feature also!

I love this set of speakers
I bought them three weeks ago, and they are great. I love the sound, the bass is loud and crisp, good and clear sound from the soundbar too.
For what I paid for them it was a great purchase. All of those having too big expectations are unhappy with them but there is no reason to not like these speakers.

The connection between the subwoofer and soundbar of our JBL Bar 5.1 Surround is through a dedicated wireless frequency (2.4 gHz) between the bar and sub, it will not interfere with other wireless signals (Bluetooth).

I tried to calibrate my JBL Bar 5.1 Surround and it told me my calibration failed. I however was able to calibrate it successfully the night before and am not sure why it isnt working now. Its connected with the HDMI to the TV with the cable provided

Our JBL BAR 5.1 has an Auto wake up feature. The soundbar is powered on whenever a sound signal is received. This is most useful when connecting to the TV using the optical cable, as most HDMI™ ARC connections enable this feature by default. I just got this 5.1 delivered by Costco and the volume is low on this. Even at max volume I think this should be able to put out a lot louder volume, I am really thinking about returning it for a full refund. Can you help me figure out why?

When I play music on YouTube through my tv it perfect! But when I connect my phone to my soundbar it makes a weird squeaky noise. How do I fix that?

Just bought JBL Bar 5.1. Have unit hooked up per Quick Start Guide. 2 problems. When TV turned on, Sound Bar shows TV, but show no signal. Have to press HDMI on Sound Bar remote control to get picture or sound. Same thing if going from Netflix back to TV.

Hello. I would like to buy jbl bar 5.1. Where is the main diffrent between 5.1 surround bar and 5.1 sound bar. If i order surround bar 5.1 can i put additional pair of rear speakers. I would like to have also rear speakers. Thank you for the answer.
Unlike the first JBL Bar 5.1, the JBL Bar 5.1 Surround Sound model doesn’t have separate tweeters you can remove from the main body of the soundbar. Instead, there are two additional tweeters built into the sides of the soundbar. Using JBL’s Multi-Beam technology, it will direct the audio across the room, giving the impression of actual surround sound.

Sound bar 5.1 goes into standby while watching a program. Why ?? It's in use. This is not good !!
We're sorry to hear about what happened. Please try to change the HDMI cables for us to isolate the issue. Try to reset the soundbar if this can help fix the problem:
1. Turn on your JBL BAR 5.1 Surround.
2. Press and hold the Power and Source button for 3 seconds.
3. Your device is now reset.

HI, can the JBL 5.1 Surround Soundbar support having devices plugged into HDMI and Optical? I cannot get audio from my PC, via SPDIF, to play without first physically disconnecting the cord from HDMI-OUT despite setting the soundbar to "TV" vs "HDMI".
Thanks for reaching out. When both HDMI ARC and optical cables are connected to the soundbar, the audio output of the HDMI ARC connection is prioritized. Please contact your digital device manufacturer if you have problems with the HDMI-CEC compatibility of your digital device.

I have a ROKU into HDMI & HDMI ARC going out to my non-ARC TV. I connected my cable box to optical TV input on BAR, but when HDMI is connected to TV also it defaults to HDMI for audio & optical audio doesn't work. So only one input available for use?

Will this sync with a JBL bluetooth speaker?
Thanks for reaching out. Our JBL Bar 5.1 Surround is a stand-alone speaker system and can't be linked to any JBL bluetooth speaker.
